Frank & Louise Groff Foundation

The Frank and Louise Groff Foundation was created to assist students to become Registered Nurses or Medical Doctors by providing needed financial assistance for them to be able to pursue a career in medicine. This Foundation was established in 1970 under a provision of the Will of the late Louise Darby Groff, who as a nurse recognized the great physical, moral, and spiritual benefits she received from her professional training.

Awards will be made at the discretion of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. However, as mandated by the Groff Will, scholarships are limited to those students who have graduated from a public high school within Monmouth County, New Jersey. These scholarships are renewable for four years.

Since the inception of the Groff Foundation, a total of over $775,000 has been awarded to students.

Recipients are chosen:

  1. On the basis of demonstrated financial need.
  2. On the basis of their high school records, recommendations, and sincere interest in programs leading to certification as a Registered Nurse, a BSN, or as a Medical Doctor (MD/DO).
  3. On the basis of being admitted to and maintaining satisfactory progress in a nursing program or medical school.
